THUMB SPRAINS
Thumb sprains (some times called skier's or gamekeeper's thumb) often occurs after a thumb injury where the thumb is forcefully pulled backward. This results in a ligament tear and swelling where the thumb meets the palm.

Treatment is determined on physical exam and often a thumb MRI.
​
Non-operative management options:
4-6 weeks of bracing followed by therapy
​
Operative management options:
Surgical repair or reconstruction
