DISTAL RADIUS FRACTURES
Distal radius (wrist) fractures often occur when people fall on an outstretched hand. There is immediate pain, swelling and deformity to the wrist.
​
Treatment is determined depending on physical examination and the appearance of the x-ray.
​
Non-operative treatment options:
Wrist bracing and early motion
Casting for 4-6 weeks then motion therapy
​
Operative treatment options:
Pin or plate fixation of fracture with early motion
